The First Review for
Stormlord Rising

.

The first review is out in Oz , from the Australian Publisher + Bookseller (March 2010, Vol 89, No. 6.) I saw this via Boomerang Books (thanks guys). I am not sure who did the review though.

I don’t think there are any spoilers for people who have not yet read book 1, The Last Stormlord.

A couple of extracts:

After such a cataclysmic finale to the first book the reader, like the characters, must struggle to pull together the shattered pieces of the world and make sense of it. The best thing about this book is the way that the heroes do this, growing into protagonists through some of the best character development I’ve read in years.
….
The point at which Shale and Terelle shift from passive to active ramps up the energy in what is already a dynamic series to the point where I caught myself cheering more than once. Clever and captivating, this is a book for any fantasy reader who wants to be completely swept away.

The First Review for
Stormlord Rising

  1. I just finished The Last Stormlord tonight, after downloading it to my Ipod on Mar. 1. What a great read! I so agree that the character development is substantial. But as a resident of grey, rainy Seattle, I truly relish reading about the hot, dry drought conditions in this alternative universe. Cannot wait for volume no. 2!

  2. I haven't read it yet, but that review doesn't surprise me one bit. I am waiting for my copy to come from Oz and my nails are bitten to the elbows.

  3. The Last Stormlord fell into my hands this morning and I've been waiting all day to come home and begin the journey… I'll be starting it tonight! 🙂

  4. I'm up to page 426 in Stormlord Rising and I really don't want to go to bed and sleep… I really want to finish this because it is SO DAMNED GOOD!!!!!

But then, I don't want to finish it because it means a much longer wait for the final book in the trilogy!

Decisions, decisions! To read or not to read, that is the question!

  5. I bought Last Stormlord here in the States and have devoured it. I love it. First I've ever read or seen your books, but now I'm a convert for sure! So much so in fact that I could not wait for Stormlord Rising, and have just purchased it from an Australian bookstore. I cannot thank you enough for such an enjoyable story…

  7. Was looking for just anything to read while waiting for my bus one day and Last Stormlord's back cover sounded intriguing so I picked it up. WOW – love it. Have never read your books before but I'm a complete convert now. Devoured the book and when I discovered that Stormlord Rising was out in Australia but not the US? Bought it off an online Australian bookstore – once I've read it though I'll cry as I have to wait for the third! 😀

  8. Hi Mary – sorry if you had trouble posting here! I believe Blogger was giving trouble to Australians yesterday as well.

So glad you enjoyed the book. Do let me know how you get on with Stormlord Rising!
