In lieu of a proper post while I finish up this book. So I can’t work ALL the time, can I? These are photos taken on the cable car near where we stayed in the Genting Highlands. The astonishing thing is that all that forest you can see – plus lots you don’t see – was sold by the powers that be to one man. Many years ago, in the 1960s to be more precise, for a song.

Well I hope that one man and his heirs will keep it as a forest. It does look beautiful and yes, I am green with envy. Get back to work, just so your enjoyment of all this luxury is not unalloyed.

That's tropical rainforest – one of the world's fast vanishing resources, every inch of it fascinating. One of the great loves of my life. But then – I love the Australian desert too…
