Thank you, Susan! You have made my day... :)
"The Tangled Lands", published in 2023, is a stand alone, and alas, it is my last. I am now in my 80s, and find--somewhat to my surprise, that I don't have another book in me. I have truly retired. I do hope that others like you will discover the books and they will continue to intrigue or delight readers. Happily they are all still available.

Wow, what an amazing rollercoaster. I hope you don't mind me sharing my own Glenda Larke history? Around 15 years ago the lady who cleaned my house donated some unwanted books onto my shelves. One of them was "The Aware" which I'd never heard of. I read it, loved it, and of course had to buy the other two books. I enjoyed the series enough to go and find out more about Glenda Larke and make a list of all her books. I read "Havenstar" which I greatly enjoyed. I read "The Mirage Makers" which I liked, but not as much as "Isles of Glory" (but not because the main character wasn't a man lol). And then I read and loved "The Last Stormlord". And then today on my lunch break I read just the first two chapters of "Stormlord Rising" and I'm already hooked. I can see this week being a few nights of just one more chapter and I know I said I'd fold the washing, but seriously, I HAVE to know what happens! But of course, it's more than that. The writing is always so gripping and welcoming that I can't help but feel all the feelings; the good and the bad. Mostly I feel like I left fantasy novels back in my teens and twenties, but when they're put together this well, how could you not love them.

I will of course eventually get to the last books on the Glenda Larke list. I'm more than a little sad to have found this website today and learnt that the last book on the list will actually be the last book. But I'll always be grateful to that cleaner whose name I don't remember who donated her old books to me that started this joyful adventure. And big thanks to you for persevering with the ups and downs of the publishing journey. The world is a better place for having your writing in it <3

Thank you so much! I am deeply moved to know that I have been a help to a reader. There can be no words more satisfying and encouraging for a writer to hear. And I have loved every moment of story telling; yes even the exasperation of deleting and re-writing! It has been a joy to tell stories, especially to someone like you who has benefited in a way beyond the entertainment. Thank you for letting me know. Hugs, Glenda.

Such sad news Glenda! Your stories have brought such wonderment & solace to my life. The strength & softness I’ve come away with after each book- which often depicts achingly resilient female protagonists- has helped me through my rough beginnings & gave me bravery I could not have imagined alone. My deepest gratitude & dearest respect to you. Beyond words. Bless your days x

Hi Mac, thanks so much for the message! I'm afraid that The Tangled Lands is my last book (No.14) and there won't be another -- I really have truly retired. To be absolutely honest, I never thought I would stop writing, but after finishing The Tangled Lands, I found there simply was no other story waiting to be told. I have my 80th birthday soon, so I guess it is about time... As far as I know, all of my books are still available somewhere or another. Thank you so much for your message; it's lovely to know that you have enjoyed reading my stories more than once! All the best, Glenda.

Unfortunately I was not eligible to vote, but I loved 'The Tangled Lands' and would have if I could have. I was hoping to see you might have another book in the works or even published... as I have time on my hands in the next few weeks and was checking out my favourite authors to see if there was anything new.

I haven't read the mirage makers series lately (just re-read Isles of Glory series) so I'll have to make do. (and will be happy to :))

Hi Glenda. I came across this chain whilst looking for details of Wallace Brothers the other day. My parents lived in that house I think in the early 60's. They were posted there to run the timber camp owned by NBT. I have many photographs from those days and even the visitors book from the house (if it is the same one). My mother who died last year, always remembered her time there fondly, including a school she worked, the cook mentioned above and a snake that ate rats in the kitchen (!)

You and others on this chain are correct I think. Wallace Bay was named after Wallace Brothers. My father was called Vere Fane and he and my mother lived there after they were married in 1963. Wallace brothers came to a sad end in the 70's, destroying a business that dated back to the 1790s

I wasn't aware of the Anak Anak Wallace Bay Facebook page. It is extraordinary to think that so many years later, so may people still remember those times. I was looking on line as yesterday I met someone who asked me about my parents and Wallace Bay (name Turnbull)

Wishing you all well from London

It is 2024, and I just found this website while looking for information on birds of S.E. Asia. I lived in Singapore from 1974 - 1976 and was privileged to go on several nature trips with Dennis and Ken Scriven. Dennis will not remember me or my husband, who worked at the American Embassy in Singapore. On a hike with Dennis in Taman Negara, we heard the WOW WOW call of an Argus Pheasant. That was 50 years ago, but the magic of that moment remains. I am thrilled to read that Dennis is still leading people like me into the jungle. Thank you, Dennis!

Glenda, my late parents (Patrick and Jane Cassels) were based there in early 70’s, having moved over from Kalabakan.

It is, in fact my earliest memory, living in the house next door, Forest Lodge, until we moved over to Tawau.

As a family, we would visit Palau Sebatik, and stay at the guest house depicted.

I remember an older Indian chef working there for years, and the wonderful curries he produced.
