Hi Alex. It is so horrific I don't have words. We often used to stay in Perlis Park and walk through the forest there, alone, birding, exploring. Back then, I can't think anything like that was going on, but when it started there is no way that park officials and locals did not know.

Yes! What the Guardian says is true. This has been happening up to 10 years ago. UNHCR in Malaysia has been receiving, documenting, providing care and resettling those who survived the horror. The survivors have been telling their stories about the agents who cash in on their plight, the crowded boats, jungle camps and torture in both the Thai side and Malaysian side of the border. These survivors were left in the plantations along the border where they were picked up by the local police and sent to the hospital for treatment. Upon release, they were referred to the UNHCR. So, everybody there knew what was happening.

What tragic news Glenda. I am sure it has upset you both. Trafficking is an appalling 'business' if that is the right word, whether it be in humans or animals. If only we could stop it but you are right, it starts of with earning a few dollars and escalates. Like the rhino horn trade, the killings are done by impoverished tribesmen who are only too happy to earn extra money.
