You know, I was just thinking, if a bug landed on my laptop and/or my arm, my reaction would be to flick it off at the least, not run around taking pictures of it. Just as well there are people like you and Noramly.

hi Glenda,

those two 'horns' are the antennae. if you notice the underside, there's a long proboscis (characteristic of the order) tucked under the body which the bug uses to suck plant sap. Not much online literature available on the family though; says much for how little we know of these things.

Thanks, Budak! So is what I called antennae actually proboscis? I was wondering if it was a true fly because of the single pair of wings, but couldn't find anything that looked remotely like it online…

it's a hemipteran in the family Derbidae. One of the weirdest in the order.
