The lake only fills up about that often, but every ten years or so it gets water, and when it has does, the water lasts for a while.

Much as I love Australia it can be a harsh and unforgiving place, especially inland, and you wonder why anyone would keep on living on the land. I knew Lake Eyre didn’t get water very often, I didn’t know that it stayed a long time once the water did arrive.
