I have also been lucky enough to have travelled widely there as part of work assignments on environmental bird stuff. In fact, it is highly likely I will be back there later this year.

The first time I went to Kinabalu Park, you had to have a 4WD to get there…

I first climbed the mountain in 1983, and have been on the mountain twice since, although neither time did I go to the summit. Once was enough!!

(BTW, I don’t assign proofreaders – that’s my publisher!)

By the way, there was a segment on Wheel of Fortune last night showing Wheel of Fortune from Malaysia and then one of the US contestants won a trip to Malaysia. Knew I wanted to go on Wheel.

How long did you live in Sabah? Did you live in K.K.? I spent part of my childhood there. Holidays spent at the park below Mt Kinabalu were always a highlight (apart from the inevitable car-sickness on the road up there…). Finally hoicked myself up the mountain ten years ago, and had a fabulous time.
