I had never considered you would have to really &quot;know&quot; your invented world although I would probably be one of the readers who would spot something terribly out of sync. On the other hand much can be forgiven in spec fic because we don&#039;t live there so maybe fresh tuna can be transported by magic!!!]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[Great interview, with wonderfully insightful and revealing answers. I&#039;ve been pondering a bit about how who we are as individuals shapes what and how we write. For eg, I was thinking the other day about how weather/the seasons isn&#039;t in the forefront of my work -- because Australia is a very bland place, seasonally. And how I have to really stop and remember living in the UK for those 3 years, to cue my head/imagination back into that.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Sometimes it&#039;s really important for us to stop and challenge our default positions/assumptions -- or we turn into fish who don&#039;t see the water we&#039;re swimming in.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Your point about how being the constant outsider equips you with an acute sense of community is spot on, and helps to explain why your world building is consistently brilliant.]]></description>
