Still, I find it somewhat worrying when people seem to have forgotten what fiction is. Do they also sit in front of their tellies and think it’s all true? Or does writing something down somehow give it apparent validity?

I once wrote a fiction piece (in first person which was probably my mistake) about how my husband won the Lotto. When it was read to a group of writers several approached me after wanting to know when it happened! I should be so lucky.

Sounds like when I started my post-graduate studies, and my father told me it was time I started wearing proper clothes (i.e. a suit and tie – not the most suitable attire for crawling around dusty old library archives). Heh.

I have people telling me I should write real books – no doubt same difference – though the idea of an illusory paperback appeals to me, especially if it’s weightless when it comes to luggage weight allowance for travelling.
