Anghara – I notice this becomes even more common when the subject is less obviously human e.g. “The doctor that we visited…” or “The scientists that discovered the vaccine…” even though they are still people and deserving of “who”.

To tell the truth though, I learned more about grammar when I was learning German and French than any other time.

So long as you remember that NEITHER applies to people.

Phrases like "the woman that screamed" really BUG me. It's the woman WHO sceramed.

Just my 2 cents' worth...
