Synopsis

So what is Book 2, THE DAGGER’S PATH all about?

Well, half of it is set on the opposite side of the world, in the spice islands of the story. That’s the Sorrel, Saker, Juster and Ardhi thread.

Back in the Va-cherished Hemisphere, those left behind (Fritillary Reedling, Lady Mathilda, Gerelda) have their own horrors to confront.

Both sides of the known world are under threat, but the threats are very different … or are they linked? The characters have been pushed by the dagger into confronting these dangers, but how they tackle them, and whether they find solutions — that’s up to them.

Reviews

I really love all of Glenda Larke’s books, and this latest instalment in her latest series is absolutely no exception. If you enjoyed The Lascar’s Dagger, why haven’t you read it yet? And if you haven’t, then go pick it up and start this wonderful series. Especially if you want something other than yet another medieval European-set fantasy in your life. Larke’s fantasy worlds are some of the best I’ve come across.

Larke does a number of things to ensure that the second book in her trilogy maintains the momentum of the first, all while injecting the novel with plenty of new stuff to make sure the book is equally as enthralling as the opening installment…

So, Larke has dazzled me with sea-faring world exploration, and continued to develop her characters so that I’m increasingly invested in their lives… All very good, but the key component of a second book in a trilogy series is that it’s gotta leave me hungry for the final installment. Again, Larke succeeds with flying colors. The Dagger’s Path delivers some answers to a few of the series’ mysteries, unloads a couple epic surprises, and more or less sets things up for the third and final installment to be an all-out thrill-a-minute…

Last year’s The Lascar’s Dagger was my favorite fantasy book of 2014, so, I’ll be honest, I had some pretty high hopes for the second book. Thankfully, The Dagger’s Path delivers. It progresses the overall plot of the series, keeps you invested in the characters and introduces new struggles.

…The Dagger’s Path is a wonderful second book in one of the best new series I’ve read in a while. Larke has created unforgettable characters and an enticing story.

  1. Is this a trilogy? I thought the Lascar’s dagger was a book on it’s own, so I was disappointed to find it wasn’t. If this is a trilogy, just let me know so that I am mentally prepared.

    Thanks.

  2. Hooked me again with another one of your trilogies. Can’t wait for the third book in the series. Can’t wait for the third book in the series. Or maybe there will be four or five books. Absolutely love the way you write and how your characters come to life, and how you make us want to know more about them, but mostly I enjoyed the fact that you took me to this world with words.
